About Advisory Boards

Residents across Salt Lake County treasure our Wasatch Canyons. Whether one downhill or backcountry skis, hikes, lives, works, or owns property in the Wasatch, we all love our canyons.   


With our great treasure comes great responsibility, and this responsibility inspired and initiated the "It's Your County" initiative. Although many agencies claim jurisdiction over the canyons, many unresolved issues were festering, even becoming dangerous. Concerned citizens and outdoor enthusiasts wanted a platform to identify the problems, air their grievances, learn more about them, rub shoulders with others, and participate in viable solutions. 


"It's Your County" focuses on three specific areas:

- Wildfire Danger and Forest Health,

- Culinary and Emergency Water Access,

- Public and Private Access to the Backcountry

A small and efficient committee for each topic was formed and seated with outdoor enthusiasts, landowners, user groups, and more. Their objectives are to gather information and make and implement those recommendations.


Meetings are noticed in advance, recordings are promptly posted, and the public can attend in person or online. Join us for this exciting process as we address and resolve longstanding concerns via "It's Your County!"
